REST Day 33 - to Champaign, IL

Rest day was spent with friends and family who were able to drive up for the day to visit. My day started with a late breakfast at the hotel then off to coffee with a good friend, Rachel. We go way back to pre-school when we met. Why in the world I’ve let life stop me from keeping in touch with people for 10 years is absolutely unknown. This is the second friend meet up I’ve had this year where I am wondering this. Please, reach out to your friends from the past and present.

We got to chat for a good few hours and then she headed back home with her kiddos.. sooo nice of her to come visit. Thank you Rach!

Everyone was so happy that the weather that rolled through happened when we weren’t riding! It was nasty and could’ve been dangerous. We dodged that one!!

I ran to target for a few small items, found a small massage roller I picked up along with some shower bombs.. because rest day is pamper day! I even got sushi lunch next to target. Man I miss sushi dinners.

I came back to the hotel to try for a nap.. well they are doing major construction at that hotel so there was hammer drilling all around my room. I did the best I could but am running very low on sleep.

Eric, Lauren, Joe, & Charlie headed up to hangout for the afternoon. It was so nice to have Lauren be our guide at UofI! She knew where to walk, take pictures, and eat while we enjoyed the day. We had huge pizzas followed by ice cream before they headed home. I could not have asked for a better day!

My old wheels are successfully on my bike and traded out with the ones I’ve been riding this far. Eric and Jason shipped them to Eric’s house, who then drove them and some mechanic items I needed to change brake pads and a few other items. Having someone bring you these things is like having a well run pit crew and a blessing. The wheel shipment did not arrive at the guaranteed UPS time, so they are refunding us!? Hahaha okayyy thank you. Free wheel change out! Worth it! Thank everyone who make my Illinois time feel like I was in Edwardsville. ❤️
