Day 37 - to Marysville, OH

When we ride back to back days I start to get fuzzy on the beginning of rides when I’m writing theses. Sometimes I forget the name of the town we left.. we left Richmond, Indiana today. Almost within 15 minutes we were in Ohio! I rode right past the small sign, had to circle back. While group of us did.

CA, AZ, NM, TX, OK, KS, MO, IL, OH, & IN.. 10 states!? Whoa. Yep, we did that. This morning’s lighting was outstanding. Ever so slight cloud cover made for great picture lighting. Even better, we were on small country roads. No shoulders, but it went smoothly.

I kept seeing signs for CT Ohio bike route.. still researching that. In the process I’ve come across a few resources for OH cycling.

There are routes listed as well as a path that goes up to Erie area. Nice system to help people find a safe way through the state. Thank you Ohio DOT. This route took us through multiple small towns again. I could sit and study the buildings all day. Early 1800s timeframe.

We had a SAG stop in Covington where we got to see Greg & friends with treats set up for us.. buckeyes! As we rode into town the local Amish communities were heading to church. I rode past a huge stable where there were about 20 coaches tied up while the owners were inside the church. I so regret not stopping for a picture. I had the whole group behind me.. good reminder experiences are far more important than my average speed each day. I managed to get a short video:

As we cross through field after field, turns into the wind, turns with tailwind.. we found multiple construction areas. We got lucky with 2, riding through them.. one I took the “signed” car detour to later learn there was a path I could take. Oh well. We all made it.

After the last SAG I found a few cute photo locations. I never realized I’m partial to murals and buildings until this daily blog! But, yes, I’m drawn to them. Here are some finds today:

I found a gelato shop within 2 miles of the hotel. They had brookie gelato! Whoa, yes please. They also had Italian ice, I wanted it all.. but stuck to the brookie selection. I think it was the best on this trip so far.

For dinner I ended up walking about 2 miles to go get Panera.. worth it for a carb loading fuel stop. We have 3 more hard days. Going to get to bed shortly.

Hope you enjoy this random compilation of cycling daily. I’m not a writer.. but if you’re a cyclist or adventure seeker, this might be slightly interesting to read.

We’re nearing 2 weeks out til the end and there’s an uptick in conversations of friends and family meeting at the end. You can see the excitement and joy in each riders face as they tell you who will be there.. we all miss our people. We couldn’t do this without them.

❤️ Happy 17th Anniversary Jason. I love you.
