We made it 3,000 miles in less than 6 weeks! Whoa.
We left Buffalo and made our way through town with some traffic but manageable. We only had one section where we didn’t have much space for cars. Once we got past that things were great with larger shoulders to ride more at ease. I ended up leading out for 20 miles which puts me on the front in a safer position.
We stopped for 2 SAG stops today. People stayed together but the hills made it turn into a bunch of little groups. I ended up dropping my chapstick and then riding solo after I got it. Ha. It’s for the best, I’m not riding hills fast lately! I tried to enjoy the rollers and smoother pavement thinking of how many miles we have done on various surfaces. Smooth is now considered lucky.
I had planned to add about 10 miles onto my route to see a Native American historical area.. but the headwind started to get to me those last 15 miles. I ended up opting to slow roll to the hotel. I stopped and took pictures of really pretty falls, the rolling hills, trees, and a cute house.
Nothing major today, which honestly is a godsend. Good weather, smooth roads, and less than 500 left for the trip!
