Writing this about a week out from it happening. Turns out the end of the big trip is busy!! Lots of moving parts as we prepare for the drive back to Phoenix with stops in Exeter, Cleveland, Edwardsville, and Amarillo. So I decided to hold off until we were driving back to write this.
This was the hottest and most humid day of the trip! We saw temps in the high 90s with humidity off the charts! Most of us ran out of water at the end of the ride, but everyone was happy to reach our last hotel!
We crossed into New Hampshire without even knowing due to lack of sign! We all came up with a plan to stop when we saw the west bound sign near the Massachusetts state line. It all worked out and I stuck my last stickers on state line signs!
I stayed with the group until the last SAG, where I took off my shoes in the shade to have a little break. I sat there reflecting on how this was the last SAG of the trip. Just up the road Sheri and Eve (sister and neice) were heading to a cheer spot on route around mile 82. The climbs on this ride, in the heat and humidity, were challenging.
Finding Sheri & Eve was a lot of fun and joy in seeing them knowing I was almost to Boston. How absolutely wild to think I rode my bike to see them. I now hold the “traveled the hardest” to visit them title! Luckily they didn’t melt while waiting for me. It was HOT.
I headed out to the hotel after seeing them, meeting them at the lobby. The last 3 miles or so I got really really hot. The kind of hot that makes you ride slow. I even told Tanny (I caught up with them when they paused at a gas station) that I think I might be on the verge of heat stress. Looking back I think I got a little dehydrated and possibly a tad low on sugars. An extra SAG would’ve been nice that day due to the heat. Our small group of about 7 rolled into the hotel to see family and friends cheering us on. I immediately got 2 cups of limonnaide jnside. That helped me a lot.
Once I got checked in & cleaned up Sheri drove us over to get Coldstone and hang for a little while. That night we had our Crossroads banquet with all the riders and a few guests. It felt a little weird to celebrate before getting to the beach, but with everyone parting ways from the beach it made sense.

That night I went to bed thinking how weird it was that Jason was 3 days into driving from Phoenix and I would soon be heading to our Airbnb the next day.. trip completed.
